“YouTube has no ethics, it's been created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money.” Do you agree? Firstly, to understand this question fully, we must ask ourselves: how do you define the word ethics? According to the webpage, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ethics it refers to
the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.;moral principles, as of an individual; that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. To put it in simplicity, it refers to the moral conduct of an individual.
It is quite true when we say that Youtube has no ethics, and is created just for entertainment and money. There are many examples of such where Youtube has indeed been created for the purpose of entertainment. One recent example is that of the RK House video posted on the webpage.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBDA_4DKrbM) Till today, it has been viewed 363,612 times and commented 857 times, with most calling to remove the video which contains some racism message. However, the video still remains till this day. Why? You may ask. The answer is simple: for entertainment.
Youtube has been bought over by Google for $1.65 billion. For what? For the sole purpose of making money of course. Who will spend so much money on something for nothing? Since there are more than one million people viewing Youtube each day, it can be made into a money-generating website. Advertisements are hosted onto the webpages, publicity is made, just so that companies can make more money. Who will care about ethics so long as money is being generated?
However, there is still some truth left in the fact that Youtube is trying to be as ethical as it can be. The fact remains that Youtube has yet to allow pornography images to appear on its web. People found posting such videos were immediately flagged and the user's account was immediately frozen. If Youtube has no ethics, will they even bother? Such disturbing images were removed immediately so that viewers can enjoy themselves while visiting the site. This proves that Youtube still place the rights of the visitors over pure entertainment and profit.
Moreover, it was right to say that the sole purpose of creating Youtube was indeed for entertainment. Chad and Steve created Youtube intially just so that people can post videos and share it with many others. It is only that this purpose has moved on to a higher level--to make money. Entering any webpage URL, you will see advertisements popping up everywhere. Can we also say that those websites has no ethics?
Hence, is it fair to judge and place Youtube as an unethical site just because it makes money through entertainment? I doubt so.

I am really very sick of watching this blog having just one post. Thus, I'm now going to post this unrelated-to-GP-post. =/
Basically, I've just came back from my school's speech day. This year, the speech day was not really well done. I find it so dead. Nevertheless, we're all able to enjoy ourselves as all of us have not seen each other for very long.
We all looked very smart in our different uniforms, ties and blazers. We presented ourselves in a totally different look in front of all our teachers in the past. It was a really memorable day. Here are just some of the photos that I wanted to post.
